Facebook Ad Downloader: Save Videos and Images From the Ad Library
Updated
The Facebook ad downloader on this page saves the video or images from an ad that is running in the Meta Ad Library. Paste the ad’s link into the box above, press Download, then save the files: videos arrive as .mp4 in the highest quality Meta keeps, and images keep their original format. You don’t need an account, and there is no daily cap.
How to use the Facebook ad downloader
- Find the ad. Open the Meta Ad Library at facebook.com/ads/library and look up the brand or keyword you want. Our Facebook Ad Library guide explains this step in more detail.
- Copy the ad’s link. Open the single ad. Its address looks like facebook.com/ads/library/?id= followed by a long number. Copy the whole address, or only the number.
- Paste and press Download. The Facebook ad downloader looks up that one ad and lists every video and image in it.
- Save. Press Save next to a video to get an .mp4 file, or Save all to download every file in the ad.
What you get from each type of Meta ad
The Facebook ad downloader saves the files Meta serves. In our tests, video, single-image, multi-image, carousel and catalog (DPA) ads running in five countries all gave us their files in full. The Facebook ad downloader doesn’t make ZIP files yet, so Save all downloads each file separately.
| Ad type | What the Facebook ad downloader saves |
|---|---|
| Video | An .mp4 named with the ad ID, its position in the ad and its quality; HD when Meta has it, else SD |
| Single image | The original image in the format Meta serves, usually .jpg |
| Multi-image and carousel | Each image as its own file |
| Catalog (DPA) | Each card’s image; Save all skips exact duplicates |
Instagram ad downloader: same library, same steps
You don’t need a separate Instagram ad downloader. The Meta Ad Library records where each ad appeared, on Facebook, Instagram or Meta’s other apps, so Instagram ads live in the same library. Find the Instagram ad there, copy its link and paste it into the Facebook ad downloader above.
No inspect element, no renaming files
If the inspect-element trick has stopped working for you, the Facebook ad downloader does the same job without it. Each time you press Download, it looks the ad up on Meta again and gets the current media links, so a link that expired days ago is not a problem. Your browser then fetches the video straight from Meta, and because Meta’s links don’t include a file name, the downloader names the file for you and saves it as an .mp4.
How many ads can you download?
There is no daily cap on the Facebook ad downloader. Each IP address can make 10 requests every 60 seconds and 120 per hour, and saving files doesn’t count, because your browser downloads them straight from Meta. If the whole site is busy, you’ll see a message asking you to try again shortly. For comparison, another free Facebook ad downloader we checked limits you to five requests a day and keeps that count in your browser.
What the Facebook ad downloader can’t do
- In-app browsers. Downloads may not work inside the Facebook or Instagram app, so the page suggests opening it in your usual browser.
- Bulk downloads. The Facebook ad downloader handles one ad at a time, so you can’t save a whole batch.
- Other platforms. It only works with Meta Ad Library links. For TikTok, see our TikTok ad library page.
What happens to the links you paste
When you use the Facebook ad downloader, our server asks Meta for the public ad page by its ID, without logging into any Facebook account or using your cookies. Your browser then fetches the files straight from Meta. We store no copies of them and don’t keep the link you paste. The only exception is an ad that is no longer running: we cache its ID for 10 minutes so we don’t ask Meta about it again.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Facebook ad downloader free, and do I need an account?
The Facebook ad downloader is free and needs no account: there is nothing to sign up for, log in to or pay.
How do I download Facebook Ad Library video ads?
Open the ad in the Meta Ad Library and copy the address that contains ?id= and a number. Paste it into the Facebook ad downloader at the top of this page, press Download, then press Save next to the video you want.
Where do I get the ad link?
The ad link comes from the Meta Ad Library at facebook.com/ads/library. Open a single ad and copy the address, which ends in ?id= followed by a long number, or copy only that number. Paste either one into the Facebook ad downloader above.
What video quality will I get? Can I get 1080p?
Usually 720p. You get the highest-quality version Meta keeps, and every HD file we checked was 720p; we never saw 1080p in our tests. Ads without an HD version come as SD, and the page tells you when that happens.
Can I download image and carousel ads?
Yes. The Facebook ad downloader handles image, multi-image, carousel and catalog ads. Each image is saved separately in the format Meta serves, usually .jpg. The Save all button skips exact duplicate images, which can turn up in catalog ads. A single ZIP download is not offered yet.
Is there a limit on how many ads I can download?
The Facebook ad downloader has no daily cap. Each IP address can make 10 requests every 60 seconds and 120 per hour, and saving the files does not count, because your browser downloads them straight from Meta.
Do I need a browser extension?
No. The Facebook ad downloader runs on this web page, so there is no extension or app to install.
Does the downloader work on my phone?
We have not tested it on a real phone yet. We only checked the page in a phone-sized window of a desktop browser, so we cannot promise the video will end up in your Photos or gallery.
Why won't the downloader find my ad?
Check whether the ad is still running. When we tested an ad that had ended, the Meta Ad Library returned no result for it, so there was nothing to save. If you see a message that the service is busy, wait a minute and try again.
Can I use downloaded ads in my own campaigns?
No. Ads saved with the Facebook ad downloader are for research and reference, not for running as your own. If you want to reuse an ad, ask the advertiser first. This page is not legal advice.
Does AdsLibrary.org keep the ads or the links I paste?
The Facebook ad downloader doesn't store ad videos or images, and it doesn't keep the links you paste, with one exception: when an ad is no longer running, we keep its ad ID and a 'not available' note for 10 minutes, so we don't ask Meta about it again. That cache is kept separate from the request log, and the request log doesn't record the ad ID, your IP address or the media links.
Is this downloader part of Meta?
No. AdsLibrary.org is a third-party site that runs separately from Meta, and Meta does not back or sponsor it. The downloader only reads public ad pages from the Meta Ad Library.
